A portfolio is a collection of artifacts which demonstrate one's abilities as a teacher. These artifacts provide evidence of one's knowledge, skills, and general competency in the field. Michaela's portfolio is built around the Professional Teaching Standards for Dance Arts, a set of rigorous industry standards for dance teachers created by the National Dance Education Organization (NDEO). The standards outline eight areas of knowledge deemed necessary for dance educators to provide the best learning experience for their students. For each standard, Michaela provides several artifacts which illustrate how she satisfies the requirements of the standards in her own teaching practice.
